In opposite to the first day of the Valencia Grand Prix, the riders of the CarXpert PrüstelGP Team were welcomed with sunny weather and 14°C to today’s free practice in the morning.
Filip Salac opened the FP3 with a good feeling – yet the Czech rider had to take the 21st position after the third free practice in the morning, as he rode his fastest lap times under the yellow flag. However, thanks to the great performance from yesterday, Friday, he still made it directly to Q2. In this second qualifying session, Salac, who’s ready for the race tomorrow, showed a good pace and will with this start from the 5th place into tomorrow’s race, only 0.424 seconds behind the fastest lap time.
On the other side of the box, Ryusei Yamanaka was not that lucky with his start into the second day of the Valencia Grand Prix. The Japanese rider had to return early to the box because of a technical problem – with this, he lost some important practice laps. In the afternoon’s first Qualifying Session, Yamanaka could not ride a free lap and struggled with some battles against other riders, which was the reason why he finished on P22 with a lap time of 1’39.873.
Filip Salac #12 (5th | 1’39.092):
“I am very happy with today. Although I wasn’t lucky in the morning – due to the yellow flag my faster lap times were cancelled. But I was still able to ride straight to Q2 and qualify for fifth place. I’m just 0.05 seconds off the front row of the grid, which gives me a really good feeling for the race. I’m looking forward to attacking again tomorrow with the team!”
Ryusei Yamanaka #6 (22nd | 1’39.873):
“This morning I actually started with an extremely good feeling. I then quickly came back to the box and went out again with new tires – but then had to quit the turn early. In the afternoon, other riders kept holding me up and I couldn’t really ride freely, so unfortunately I had to settle on P22. Still, I feel more than ready for tomorrow, for the last race of the season!”
