Back in Spain: will the scent of home bring the positions, the CMFOTO factory team is aiming for?

After a race free weekend, the CFMOTO racing PruestelGP riders are on the way to the Circuit of Barcelona-Catalunya. Just around the corner of one of Europe’s most beautiful cities, the Grand Prix of Catalunya is awaiting and attracts thousand of racing enthusiastic Spaniards.

In comparison to the last couple of years the Catalan race is taking part quite late this time. One reason more, local matador #43 Xavi Artigas (20) and his Australian team mate #66 Joel Kelso (20), who is base in Mallorca, are urgently awaiting the race to happen. During the winter break some construction work on the track was carried out for improved riders safety. The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya itself remained unchanged and still bears a total length of 4.675 m length. Run-off zones have been increased by 40% due to the fact that average speed in all racing classes have increased over time. As a result the characteristics of crash zones become more an more important.

Constructed at the beginning of the 1990s on behalf of the royal automotive club of Catalunya, Montmeló features a good mixture of high speed passages and slower turns, 8 of them turning right and 6 to the left side. 12 meters wide, there are a lot of overtaking possibilities, with turn 1 being the most popular among them.

Leaving the Red Bull Ring with rather mediocre results, the team as a whole is again going into in-depth-analysis in addressing just the right bike setup for the Grand Prix in Barcelona.

#43 Xavier Artigas

“I hope that we can make a big step forward at my home grand prix in Barcelona. I do like the track, and last year I achieved a result within the top10 here. I will put in everything I have to make our blue-pink combo more present in the grid.”

#66 Joel Kelso

“Austria has been quite disenchanting, but I know that if we keep up the great work, the time for us as a team will come. We continue learning from the experiences we make. Barcelona is calling, and my full focus is on showing, what we are able to achieve.”
