CFMOTO at the Red Bull Ring: Will the riders be able to tame the track?

Amidst fields, farms and picturesque mountain villages, you probably feel quite far away from the Grand Prix circus in Styria for most of the year. But in the coming days, the Murtal will once again become a Mecca for two-wheel fans. Because when the stars of the motorbike world championship make a guest appearance here, the crowds don’t wait.

Situated in the Alps and bordered on three sides by slopes that have partly been converted into natural grandstands, visitors to the Austrian circuit not only have a good view of the racing action, but also get a beautiful sight of the Alpine peaks and green treetops. The Red Bull Ring has a total of 10 bends over a total length of 4.318 km. Compared to other circuits on the racing calendar, the number is quite manageable – a special feature are the steep differences in altitude on the asphalt. At around 65 m, this is a real test of strength for the motorbike riders, who have to overcome gradients of up to 12% at times.

After the CFMOTO riders #43 Xavi Artigas and #66 Joel Kelso were unable to reward themselves with points in the World Championship in Silverstone, this challenging circuit in Styria now awaits them. After detailed analysis of the of the last runs, both will give everything here to become more competitive.

#43 Xavier Artigas

“Of course, we also used the race-free weekend to take a closer look at what is currently reducing our performance. But: every race is different, the cards are always reshuffled. I know we have the potential, we will use it this weekend.”

#66 Joel Kelso

“The Red Bull Ring definitely has character, and we have to rein that in. We are working hard, the team and I are in close coordination, so we are optimally prepared for the weekend.”
