CFMOTO Racing Pruestel GP with new rider pairing in 2023

Already in the pre-season tests CFMOTO debuted as a newcomer to the Moto3™ world championship with strong results. Thus, the team was already able to take its first podium place in the third race in Indonesia, and thus exceeded the expectations set in advance.

With the two Spanish racers #99 Carlos Tatay and #43 Xavier Artigas, the sports director and former 125cc world champion Tom Lüthi and team boss Florian Prüstel, a fast and competitive formation was created.

With the technical know-how of CFMOTO, the team is aiming to continuously develop, go innovative ways and push the sporting results.

Progress is also marked by change. Thus, for 2023 the team will enter the season with a new rider pairing. In addition to the already familiar Spaniard #43 Xavier Artigas, the team will start the new season with the Australian #66 Joel Kelso.

Kelso, who has already made a number of guest starts in Moto3™ as a substitute rider in 2021, is currently spending his first season as a regular rider and will do so under the CFMOTO banner in 2023.

The 19-year-old Australian moved to Europe at the age of 15, first Italy – then Spain, Mallorca and is now realizing his dream of becoming a professional racer. Kelso came from the Italian Championship CIV to the Spanish Championship CEV and with 3 wins took a strong overall 4th place in the Moto3™ Junior World Championship last year.

The 2023 CFMOTO factory riders Xavier Artigas and Joel Kelso have big plans and together with the team they want to permanently race for top positions.

#43 Xavier Artigas

“I am very happy to be with CFMOTO Racing PruestelGP also in the future. I feel very comfortable here and I’m sure I’ll be better next year – therefore I am doing a lot. But first I have to finish the season in the best way possible to start next year right away with full power. The goal is to be at the front of the pack in all sessions and to be permanently fighting in the top group. With the experience I was able to gain in my first year with CFMOTO it is important to make bigger steps. Finally, thanks to CFMOTO and PruestelGP for the trust and thanks to all my supporters and fans!”

#66 Joel Kelso

“First of all, I’m really excited about this new project for next year, being a part of the team and racing for CFMOTO Racing PruestelGP. Honestly, the goal is to be in the front in most of the races and I think it’s a doable task for me. Especially since the team is very strong, experienced and competitive. I want to show my speed, so I’m grateful to have the opportunity at CFMOTO to fight for podiums.”

Florian Prüstel I Managing Director

„I am delighted that we are continuing our joint project with CFMOTO in 2023. Wehave created a good and effective basis for cooperation in recent months – onthe track, but also off the track via international media appearances and press relations or stationary events at CFMOTO dealers across the globe. We are excited and proud about the recognition and worldwide support of the partners and fans and hope to be able to ride with both riders in the Top10 and more again in 2023 with our new rider constellation. We welcome the Australian Joel Kelso
as a new member of the team, who is in his rookie year this year and would like to push his potential together with us; he undoubtedly has the talent and the speed to do so. At his side we will continue with the Spaniard Xavier Artigas. We
know about his sporting abilities, Xavier has already proven that in the past with podium finishes and also a victory in Moto3™. We want to start the 2023 season fully motivated and as well prepared as possible, for this we will continue to work hard as Team CFMOTO Racing PruestelGP. Thank you very much for the trust
and support.“
