Press release Qualifying ValenciaGP

On Saturday morning, the Moto3 ™ class started the third free practice session for the Valencia GP at the Ricardo Tormo circuit. After a solid start by Marco Bezzecchi the day before and a rather less pleasant start by Jakub Kornfeil, both pilots again did their best in the FP3. Even a fall did not disturb Marco Bezzecchi and he continued his usual rhythm. Marco Bezzecchi ended this session with P1 and Jakub Kornfeil landed on P5.

In qualifying, Bezzecchi rode fast lap times right from the start and took top positions. The heavy rain of the day before and at night made the qualifying to a difficult challenge. Right at the beginning of QP, Bezzecchi crashed out in Turn 8 and his bike was severely damaged. After a forced break in the box Bezzecchi was able to resume the hunt for fast lap times in the last 15 minutes of qualifying. He was back at the top of the field after the Outing Lap. Bezzecchi improved lap by lap and usually rode the fast laps alone. Marco Bezzecchi will start from row 2 from 6th to the last race of the season.
Jakub Kornfeil tried after the rather less good performance on the previous day to change the lever and ride faster times. Much has been tried to improve. Also on a good strategy for the QP has worked. Jakub Kornfeil felt visibly comfortable on his bike today – he enjoyed lap after lap and got faster and faster. He was able to position himself on P1 for a while, which motivated him even more. Kornfeil is happy that the team has made a big progress overnight and has given it a good setting. Jakub Kornfeil finished the QP in 8th place, which is a very good starting point for the Redox Prüstel GP pilot.

The race of the Moto3 ™ class in Valencia will be exciting as Bezzecchi will fight very hard to keep his runner-up title. The lap times are close to each other as in the last races.
It continues on Sunday at 08:40 clock with the warm-up of the Moto3 ™ class and at 11.00 clock begins the hunt for more points for the World Cup.

Jakub Kornfeil
Rider #84

#84 (P8,1:47.796):
“I am very satisfied with the QP today. We found improvements on the bike that made me feel good again and improved me two seconds in the lap time. In FP3 I improved to 5th place. A good confidence for the bike was definitely a good basis for qualifying. My bike was great and a few minutes before the finish I was even on top. For the last two laps, I was in a slow group and could not improve. I got stuck behind Foggia and was also on the RPM limiter. Anyway, we took a big step forward compared to yesterday, so I am very happy with the eighth position and the third row on the grid. We have a good base for tomorrow and just have to adjust to all the conditions that come. I would like to thank my team for the great bike and the very good teamwork. I will do my best to reward my crew with a strong race tomorrow. “

Marco Bezzecchi
Rider #12

#12 (P6,1:47.776):
“It was not a bad qualifying today, unfortunately with a crash at the beginning of the session. Then we had to change our strategy, which was not a problem for me. I felt very comfortable riding today and I try to do my best again tomorrow and win if its possible. Ciao! “

Florian Chiffoleau
Technical Director

“It was a good day for the Redox PrüstelGP Team, and both riders performed well. Also, both rode a good lap time with the rain tires. It was a bit risky to ride the entire wet tire session because some riders changed to dry tires in the end – but we stayed true to our strategy and rode a good result. Tomorrow it should be wet again, but we also showed good results in the rain yesterday. That’s why we are very confident for tomorrow. “
