Just as one race Sunday is over, CFMOTO Racing PruestelGP moves on to the next highlight of the racing calendar. At the San Marino Grand Prix, the legendary “Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli” awaits the two factory riders. Will they make the breakthrough at the second race on Italian soil?
Rimini – that sounds like the south and sun. But instead of a relaxing vacation, the two CFMOTO riders #43 Xavier Artigas (20) and #66 Joel Kelso (20) are heading to the legendary race track in Misano, which has been dedicated to the local hero Marco Simoncelli since 2012.
Officially opened in 1972, the track has undergone optimization and expansion work over the years, quickly becoming the venue for numerous two- and four-wheel racing formats. A major reconstruction took place in 2006, when the direction of riding was reversed, significantly improving safety conditions for riders. Today, the track measures exactly 4226 meters. Although this makes it one of the shorter tracks on the racing calendar, it is very varied with its 16 bends. With so many curves, there is little room for straights, so it is not surprising that the longest of them measures just 565 meters.
The CFMOTO riders are preparing intensively for the challenge ahead of them in the home of Rossi, Simoncelli and Co. to collect valuable points in the Moto3™ World Championship on the demanding track. Efrén Vázquez will be supporting the riders in particular as Riding Coach from now on. He is a two-time Spanish champion and can look back on 2 victories as well as several podium finishes in Moto3™. He made the step up to Moto2™ and has now been test rider for KTM in Moto3™ for many years. The team expects the riders to find new confidence by working with him and to move forward again after the mixed performances of the last weeks.

#43 Xavier Artigas
“Results in Montmeló should have been better, I’m definitely aware of that. I hope that with the addition of Efrén to the team, we will find new approaches and finally start performing again the way I want for myself and the team.”

#66 Joel Kelso
“I know about the high standards demanded by the Misano circuit. I’m working hard with the team to get the results right next weekend. The speed is there – I just have keep working on the break through and keep up the pace over the entire race distance.”
